This writing contest is open to all UPM and UPSI undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The contest’s theme is ‘Journey’
Guest Judges: Poet and Novelist Bernice Chauly and KL Slam Poet Jamal Raslan
The contest has two categories:
Short fiction (one story; 500 words or less)
Poetry (one poem, 20 lines or less)
If your work exceeds the 500 word (short fiction) or 20 line (poetry) limit, we will not consider it.
You may enter both the short story and the poetry contest; however, you may NOT submit more than one entry per category.
Your short story and/or poem must be 100% your original work.
Submit your short story and/or poem as a word document to upmwritingcontest@gmail.com. Include your contact information in your email (name, university, phone number, email address). Your email subject line should follow this format: Last name_First Name_Category_Title (for example: Ship_Sarah_Short Story_Footsteps)
Submission deadline: 31 July 2020 by midnight.
We will announce winners by 31 August 2020.

First Place Winners: prize valued at RM300
Second Place Winners: prize valued at RM150
Winners will get their stories and poems published in a CALC anthology and will receive a certificate signed by the U.S. Embassy.
